For Founder and CEO of CBB Design Firm, Colleen Bennett, furniture has always been more than something that fills a room. Colleen began her furniture journey at Drexel Heritage and eventually transitioned to Ralph Lauren, becoming the youngest account manager and visual merchandiser. After years spent designing interiors, sourcing furnishings, and traveling all around the world, Colleen is taking on a new adventure: bringing furniture manufacturing back home to North Carolina.

The decision to launch Mimosa Home in Morganton, North Carolina, is deeply rooted in the history of the place itself. North Carolina has long been synonymous with American furniture manufacturing. For more than a century, the state's abundant hardwood forests and skilled craftspeople helped establish a furniture industry that would become known around the world. What began with local farmers crafting furniture from the materials around them eventually grew into large-scale manufacturing operations and a thriving network of skilled artisans.. Furniture was not just made here; it was part of the identity of the state.
Over the past several decades, however, that legacy has changed dramatically. As manufacturing moved overseas and domestic factories closed, North Carolina lost more than half of its furniture manufacturing jobs between 1999 and 2009. A tradition built over generations began to fade.
We don't see that as the end of the story. We see it as an opportunity.
Mimosa Home was created with the belief that North Carolina can once again be a destination for beautifully made, thoughtfully designed furniture. Based in Morganton, our furniture is handcrafted by skilled artisans who have spent years, and in many cases decades, working within the furniture industry. Their knowledge of construction, upholstery, materials, and finishing is something that cannot be replicated by simply producing furniture at scale overseas.

We believe beautiful furniture should also be exceptionally well made. Our pieces are constructed from fine woods and upholstered using carefully selected fabrics that balance beauty, comfort, and performance. Many of the textiles we use are bleach-cleanable, while others are even machine washable—because luxury should not mean sacrificing the way you actually live.
And perhaps most importantly, Mimosa Home isn't about creating furniture for a showroom floor and asking you to figure out how it fits into your life. Our ultimate vision is to build furniture around you.
